Pistol Skills Class: How to Draw and Reload
Our How to Draw and Perform Reloads class breaks down the components of drawing your pistol, the types of holsters available, which holsters are best for each use, and the best practices when reloading your handgun. Drawing your gun starts with the best place to carry the pistol, the steps for a safe and quick draw, the differences needed to draw from concealment, and how to speed up your draw. We explain why knowing your draw time is critical in self defense situations and the additional opportunities afforded to you in these situations with a faster draw. Students can isolate and analyze each part of their draw, learning what aspects to practice will show the best results.

Reloading your handgun is not just for when you run out of ammo. It’s faster to complete a reload to clear some malfunctions, and we go over when to consider tactical reloads. Whether your handgun holds 7 or 17 rounds, performing an efficient reload under stress is a valuable skill for everyone who owns a gun for self defense.

The best way to practice both draws and reloads is through dry fire. We go over how to dry fire safely and utilize our laser range for the first part of this class, allowing students to get comfortable with fast draws before introducing live ammo. The course can be taught 100% in the laser range when the weather is bad.
